They have to take care of the effective (emotional) dimension of the students besides the stress on academic excellence. This calls upon the teacher to be first and foremost as to be able to draw out the emotional intelligence of the students. Students' unrest, rates of teen suicides, pregnancies, drug addiction, broken families, etc. for example are given much importance but sufficient effort is not made in our educational institutions to develop emotional intelligence.
