About the author:
John Fry wrote the award-winning book, The Story of Modern Skiing. Among his other books is A Mind at Sea: Henry Fry and the Glorious Era of Quebec's Sailing Ships. He was a dedicated environmentalist and the editorial director of a half-dozen outdoor magazines published by the New York Times Co. and Times Mirror Co.
