O knihe
The North Eastern region of India with seven eastern most states viz. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura, occupies a strategic position with 7.8 per cent of the country's geographical area and about 3.5 per cent of the country's population. The region is well known for its rich natural resources endowment. The region is characterized by wide ranging soil and climatic condition which provides a congenial environment for carrying out a diverse range of agricultural enterprises. There has been wide ranging disparity in terms of Argo-economic development amongst the North Eastern states as well as the districts within the states. This might have created many socio-political problems which hindered harmonious development of a society. Every state of North Eastern region has certain potential pockets (Zones) for certain crops. The present study has identified such potential Zones for each state for producing cereals viz., rice, wheat and maize. The potentiality of these zones could be exploited in crop production planning. It is expected that the book will be useful to academician, research scholars, policy makers and planners.
