O knihe

The impact of global warming is been felt by all aspects of the earth's environment although the warming is neither steady nor the same across seasons and in various regions. This book analyzes the variability of daily rainfall intensity in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria for 46-year period (1961-2006) in the context of climate change. The spatial variation and pattern of daily rainfall intensity categories generally indicates three enclaves centering on the Jos plateau, the eastern highlands as well as the western uplands of south western Nigeria determined primarily by the influence of relief on rainfall occurrences. Spatial variation and patterns of trend shows light rains are increasing in the Jos plateau whereas the numbers of heavy rains are increasing in the Western axis. There are implications from risk of surface runoff and flooding as well as changing conditions for crops production.
