O knihe

Free Space Optics (FSO) is an optical communication technology that uses light propagating in free space to transmit data between two points. FSO communications use lasers to transmit and receive communication signals via line-of-sight directed laser beams. FSO systems do not require cables or fibers connected between transmitters and receivers. Optical transmissions provide a wider bandwidth than other wireless communications mediums such as RF frequency signals. Moreover, optical signals can generally be more focused than RF signals, and are thus more difficult to intercept and less likely to cause interference with other transmissions. Due to these reasons, FSO wireless communication has been continuously growing as an attractive solution for high data rates communications over short distances in the recent years.9. The main challenges for FSO communication are to combat atmospheric disturbances and building sway. In this book we have showed and proved that the use of DPSK modulation scheme can considerably boost the performance of a free space optical link, thus increasing its reliability and availability.
