O knihe
This book concentrates on analysing the potential of drag reduction for unsteady flow around a cylinder at Reynolds number of 100 (laminar flow) and 1000 (turbulent flow). There are two cases studied in this research which are flow past a smooth cylinder and a rough cylinder. This project comply the modern approach which is computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to investigate the forces exert and act around the cylinder in the fluid domain. A computational fluid dynamics software which known as STAR-CCM+ software is used as the tool to fulfill the objectives of the study. Hence, the simulation of flow past a smooth and rough cylinder are carried out to obtain the numerical properties around both surfaces of cylinder such as drag coefficient, pressure coefficient and Strouhal number. Results are presented in the form of numerical data and visual simulations. This project concludes that as Reynolds number increases, the drag coefficient reduces for both laminar (Re=100) and turbulent (Re=1000) cases for flow past a smooth and rough cylinder.
