O knihe
This was an informative research conducted among pregnant women attending Antenatal Clinic at Tororo District Hospital, a rural health care facility in Uganda. It was widely consulted and compiled into a research. Anemia is the most frequent and major complication of pregnancy that can effectively contribute to poor obstetric and birth outcomes. It continues to be a major health problem in many developing countries and is associated with increased rates of maternal and perinatal mortality, premature delivery, low birth weight, spontaneous abortion, postpartum hemorrhage, intrauterine growth retardation and other adverse outcomes. Severe anemia can be life threatening and can posses a serious risk to mothers in child birth, as some 140 women die daily in child birth as a result of this disorder. Since anemia is largely a nutritional disorder, and nutrition is an important aspect of maternal and child health, this book passes key nutritional messages to gravid/expectant mothers in a bid to mitigate this disorder and encourage good obstetrics.
