O knihe

Excerpt from The Scottish Review, Vol. 31: January and April, 1898

E may as well state at the outset that Lord Bute has laid all lovers of Heraldry under a debt of gratitude to him by the publication of this book and in its mere physical aspect its possessors have something to be proud of. It is be comingly, not to say handsomely, clad in white, with 'end papers of the most delightful shade of red heraldically, in deed, it might be described, reversing the ordinary blazon of a lambrequin, as argent doubled gules,' but on the other hand it would hardly do to judge it by this technical standard as the title is lettered in gold, a conjunction of metal on metal which would make the authors, who are nothing if not purists, aghast with horror.
