In order to pay off thefe Debts, and make the Security valid, Taxes, or Impofis, were laid upon particular Commodities, at the Time, when the refpeéiive Loans were made. Some oi thele Taxes, or [tape/is, were laid on for fuch a Number of Years each, as were then thought fufi'icient for the Produce of each of them to dilcharge that particular Debt, to which it was by Law appropriated.
