O knihe

This book Bioremediation of Arsenic in Soil by Resistant Fungal Isolates intends to provide advanced and concise information on growth profile of fungal isolates (A.nidulans, A. flavus and A. fumigatus) on different carbon, nitrogen and phosphate concentrations. The problem of soil contamination by heavy metals may be considered to be a serious one, since soils in areas of intensive industrial activity accumulate large quantities of pollutants. Results from this study suggest that the A.nidulans, A. flavus, A. fumigatus and mixed cultures used here is a suitable biosorbent for arsenic alone as well as other heavy metals (copper, cadmium, mercury and zinc) in the content soil. Heavy metal removal by adsorbents from soil is strongly influenced by physico-chemical parameters such as ionic strength, pH and the concentration of competing organic and inorganic compounds. The data reported here should be useful for the design and fabrication of an economically viable treatment process for the sorption of arsenic from soil.
