O knihe

Birth preparedness and complication readiness (BP/CR) is a strategy to promote use of skilled maternal and neonatal care so that they can get timely skilled care particularly during childbirth. In the last decade, few studies conducted on BP/CR in Ethiopia tried to show the factors affecting it. However, there were minimal evidences from qualitative explorations of the target women (pregnant women), their husbands and the traditional birth attendants. Quantitative surveys alone would not give the depth of information required for programme planners and policy makers. This book, therefore, contributes to the literature on the importance of considering providers' ethics and food security status of women that were found to be barriers to preparation to birth and its complications in addition to the socio-demographic and obstetric factors already recognized earlier. Therefore, the findings from these analyses could help as a base for intervention particularly for public health programme planners and policy makers working on the improvement of utilization of skilled attendant at birth, or anyone else who may be considering a further investigation in the field.
