Bughouse Chess is probably the only perfect information four player board team game which has no random factor. In fact, you might say that it is even fairer than chess. In chess whoever gets white has an advantage. In bughouse, one player on each team has white, the other black.
Why should you play this game? For the same reason you play chess: because it is fun, and not in the least for the team factor it adds - finally there is someone else to blame for your losses! If you know how to play chess, you do not have to learn much to play bughouse. The rule differences to chess can be understood in a few minutes.
This book is for all levels of players. It explains the rules, basic
strategy and openings for the beginner. For the advanced player the book includes an article on how to climb the skill ladder and articles detailing strategic aspects such as attack, defense, mating techniques, initiative and team play. Also included is in depth analysis of Bughouse
openings with an overview article to guide your opening studies.
Not a small part of the book is reserved for annotated games and puzzles. To make those interesting for a wide skill range there is a separate hint section. To round things up the book includes stories from Bughouse gatherings around the world and an interview with GM Levon Aronian, one of the world's strongest Chess and Bughouse Chess players.
The book includes 186 diagrams on the 250 pages to make for easier reading when you do not have a chessboard at hand.
