O knihe
The well-being of healthcare providers & the influence of healthcare provider mental health & wellness on patient safety have garnered national interest & attention, Burnout syndrome is increasingly recognized among healthcare professionals, residents, physicians & nurses working in the ICU are exposed to considerable work-related stress, & previous studies have identified high levels of burnout symptoms among ICU staff. Healthcare, as an industry, places numerous pressures on healthcare providers, including the challenges of clinical work, time constraints, competing demands, lack of control over work processes & scheduling, & conflicting roles & relationships with leadership. Burnout syndrome is a psychological concept often used as a response to long-term emotional & interpersonal stressors, usually in the work context. Burnout may be a result of too much work & too little recovery. The clinical impact of burnout may be decreased well-being (insomnia, irritability, eating problems, & depressive problems) & increased sick leave among staff. A high degree of emotional exhaustion among nurses has been shown to predict lower self-rated performances & higher intention to quit work.
