Der deutsche Komponist Johann Friedrich Reichardt reiste in seiner Jugend viel und lebte als versierter Cembalist. Das Cembalo-Konzert ist eines seiner ersten erhaltenen Werke. Es wurde vom jungen Komponisten in traditionellem Stil geschaffen und der Prinzessin Maria Antonia Walpurgis von Bayern gewidmet, welche sich selbst als Komponistin und Cembalistin einen Namen gemacht hatte.
