O knihe
Climate change continues to have daunting effects around the world. In Africa, the effects of climate change are much more daunting as the continent remains highly vulnerable and inadequately adapted. Adaptation to climate change in Africa is further confounded by high rates of poverty and issues of access to the resources needed to enhance resilience. As a result, this book aims at creating an understanding of climate change shocks and adaptation actions in the Sahel of Africa. The Sahel is selected for this first part because it is among the most fragile ecosystems in Africa with high temperatures and frequent and recurrent droughts floods and sandstorms. In addition to examining climate change shocks and adaptations in the Sahel, this work also focuses on assessing Africa's readiness for climate change adaptation as well as Africa's climate change policy performance. The latter aspects will provide an understanding on how prepared different regions of Africa are in the face of climate change and what is the state of climate change policy performance for different regions and countries in Africa?
