O knihe

The commune of Tchaourou is experiencing the effects of climate change, which results in irregular and delayed rains and sometimes pockets of drought during the rainy season. This study aims to analyze climate change adaptation strategies and food security in the commune. The methodological approach adopted is based on documentary research, field surveys, data processing and analysis of results. The methods of indices (rainfall and temperature) and segmentation of Hubert, Buishand and Pettitt identified a slight increase or stability in the amount of rainfall since 1986, a high frequency of dry years (53.33%) and an increase in temperatures whose average varies between 26.68 and 28.60 °C. This seasonal dysfunction influences agricultural yields. Faced with these difficulties, farmers have developed coping strategies such as the search for short-cycle crops (89%), multiple sowing (83%) and changing the calendar.
