'We are what we eat', is an adage which is so time tested that it has now become a cliché. In our endeavour to attain sustainable wellness and to retain a long term balance in our psychosomatic profile we require to look no further than our own plate. The contents of our diet are largely governed by our heritage and socio-cultural ethos. Hence, we delve into our historical background and continuously benefit from the wisdom of our ancestors. A delicious taste on its own and a very good accompaniment to most others, a source of good health and longevity and one of the oldest processed foods of man's history, yogurt is a common food item throughout the world. Yogurt is the pearly manna which continues to lead us to good health. A carefully structured questionnaire was self-administered to the urban Indian subjects in the age group of 18-30 years with the view of obtaining a holistic picture of their perspective towards yogurt consumption. The statistically analyzed findings have reconfirmed an emphatic relationship between the subject's attitude towards yogurt and other probiotics, and general health awareness of the subject.
