The issue of Congolese nationality of origin has often been at the root of several conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Some people use it as a pretext to disqualify certain troublesome political opponents during elections, and others use it as a means to gain access to certain responsibilities within the institutions of the Republic. In its current use, CONGOLITY seems to have been abused and prostituted to the point that it makes a mockery of Congolese law. Who is Congolese and who is not? It is difficult to give a precise answer to this fundamental question since routine administrative controls are almost non-existent in a country where people change their nationality according to their lungs when they enter or leave the national territory.In the meantime, the principles of uniqueness and exclusivity attached to the Congolese nationality suffer from application to such an extent that it is necessary to rethink them especially in the current context of the increasingly growing globalization where the world is becoming a big village.
