O knihe
The philosophical positions of Heinrich Mann and Thomas Mann in foreign and domestic historiography and literary criticism have been ambiguously interpreted, which to a certain extent complicates the comprehension of historical and socio-political thought in Germany in the first half of XX century. In the monograph the authors make a very interesting attempt to analyze the essence of historical views of the Mann brothers. The complex study of the creative heritage of these writers in many respects will contribute not only to more accurate determination of their place in the spectrum of historical and socio-political thought in Germany, but also allow to explore the overall picture of its development in the first half of XX century. The study acquires particular significance also because it includes the possibility of analysing a number of contemporary topical issues, in particular the problem of dialogue between such diverse cultural and historical types as "West" and "East", the place of Russia and Germany in the modern world, and the problem of the existence of anti-Semitic, xenophobic and nationalist sentiments in today's unstable socio-cultural reality.
