Besides Paddy straw (1500g) and Coconut coir (1000 g) were found good substrates in terms of yield of mushroom. Saw dust was found poor substrate in comparison to other conventional substrate because here yield was 800g was obtained. The dry matter of the three mushroom species examined ranged between 7-9%.It is important to consider moisture content, since all of the nutrients are contained in the dry matter of food. Dry matter levels as high as 20% have been reported for some species, however 10% or less is common.
