O knihe
With its high robustness nature and simplicity in design, the switched reluctance machines are ending its way in most of the modern day applications. The torque generating capability of such type of machines highly depends on the energy density available in the air-gap [Miller et al. (1993)]. The energy density depends on the ux linkage in the air-gap as the rotor roll-over from the full non-overlap condition to the full overlap condition with that of the excited stator pole. The energy density as the rotor traverse could be improvised with the reduction of the air-gap length. However, the reduction in the air-gap length introduces the oscillatory torque during operation (particularly in lower speeds) that generates torque ripple and mechanical vibrations inside the conventional Cylindrical Switched Reluctance Machine (CSRM). This restrict the mechanical air-gap length value to the minimal value in order to operate the machine with high reliability.
