Dropping out of secondary school has been recognized as a social problem in many countries for the past decade. In the DR Congo, thousands of teenagers have seen their schooling stopped for multiple reasons, especially at a time when schooling had become a burden on the shoulders of poor parents. The province of South Kivu was not spared by this problem. In the Chiefdom of Luhwindja in particular, the phenomenon of teenagers dropping out of school was not recent. Out of 5878 (3435 boys and 2443 girls) young people enrolled in secondary school in 2019-2020, in the sub-division of Mwenga 2, of which the Luhwindja Chiefdom is a part with that of Burhinyi, 617 young people (335 boys and 282 girls) dropped out after the primary school certificate. In Kabalole and Luchiga, where there were flourishing mining areas, out of 1,029 adolescents enrolled, 116 of both sexes were recorded as dropping out, representing 11.27% of the dropout rate. This drew our attention.OBJECTIVE: To contribute to the improvement of the education system in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
