O knihe
Goat (Capra hircus) is one of the smallest domesticated ruminants which are raised for the production of milk, meat, wool and leather particularly in arid, semitropical or mountainous countries (Morand-Fehr and Lebbie, 2004). Goats exist all over the world because of their great adaptability to varying environmental conditions and nutritional regimes under which they were evolved and subsequently maintained. In the developing countries, goats make a very valuable contribution in the livelihood of the people, especially in the rural areas (Abdel Aziz, 2010). The world total numbers of goats were estimated as 861.9 million head. The largest number of goats is found in Asia (514.4 million head), followed by Africa (291.1 million head), representing about 59.7% and 33.8%,summing up to 93.5% out of the total number of the world, respectively (FAOSTAT, 2008).
