In this 21st century, an immense pressure is faced by the food production sector to meet the growing demands of the increasing population and also to mitigate the malnutrition. A long term solution to protein deficiency is to increase the production and distribution of protein rich food. Aquaculture sector is highly potential to provide more acceptable food in terms of cheap source of quality protein. Aquaculture had its origin as a traditional based farming but in the years it has become a promising industry of the world having high growth potential. Among all the food producing sector, aquaculture continues to be the fastest-growing animal-food-producing sector with an average annual growth rate of 6.6%. Aquaculture contributes 47% of the World total production of food fish for the year 2008 excluding the Aquatic plants. (FAO, 2010). Mugil cephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) being cosmopolitan in habitat can toletarate wide range of temperature and salinity fluctuation and has greater demand in both domestic and export market. Hence, in the recent years M.cephalus has received considerable attention as a promising candidate species for diversification in brackish water aquaculture
