Nobody likes shots, or bumbling, but the struggles of both Dr. Ridiculopickulopot and the boy show us, in a humorous and endearing manner, how they each confront their troubles with grace and humility. Through a series of mishaps, the doctor gains empathy for his patients. At the same time, the boy learns that doctors and shots should not be feared, and that vaccination is important.
