In buffalo production system, male buffalo calves are removed by farmers. Because, farmers don¿t want to give milk to calves and secure milk from dam for sales. Normally, the infertile, unbred buffaloes and neglected male buffaloe calves are being used as meat animal and the most of the farmers do not rear male buffalo calves that may be culled or sold. Salvaging and rearing of male buffalo calves also provide more raw material for the domestic leather industry and open up a new avenue for rural employment. The country can also earn foreign exchange by exporting quality buffalo meat from these young animals and as fertilizer for their cultivation of crops. These calves could otherwise be salvaged for meat production and recovery of hide, there by improving economic condition of farmers and providing quality meat for export market and domestic consumption.
