Bagging protects fruits from pests, fungal infections, diseases, mechanical damage, reduces spraying of insecticides, and provides an estimate of harvestable fruits per tree. Bagging of fruits is done to prevent damage occurring due to bruises, wounds, scars also diseases, pest attack and to produce cleaner fruit skin with attractive color. In mango, bagging also helps to prevent fruit fly attack and fungal disease incidence. Pre-harvest bagging has shown improvement in the quality of fruits.
