O knihe
The pancreas is characterized as a mixed two-part gland, the exocrine and endocrine. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is a disease that affects dogs and cats, defined as an error in the synthesis and secretion of pancreatic enzymes. In dogs, the main cause is atrophy to acinar pancreática, and in cats, chronic pancreatitis. Obstruction of the pancreatic duct may occur, but is rare in both species. It results in clinical signs such as weight loss, steatorrhea, polyphagia, coprophagia, flatulence, borborigmo, among others. The measurement of immunoreactivity similar to trypsin is the most recommended test for diagnosis, although there are other tests that can help in the diagnostic conduct. The treatment of choice is the enzymatic replacement of pancreatin associated with food management.
