O knihe
Through an adaptation of Miller's experiment, where saliva was collected from donors in a sterilized, closed glass container and a sugar-based substrate (sucrose) was added. In addition, a human tooth extracted by dental treatment was added to the set with the healthy dental crown + signature of the informed consent form and the term of the patient's donation by the patient. Phase I had a negative control (tooth + saliva without sucrose supply) and the others were specifically opened after 01, 02, 03 and 04 months of incubation, and this served as a parameter for the design of the next stage. In phase II, two saliva donors were needed. In this phase, saliva donors with low levels of oral hygiene were used. Tooth incubation (defined by phase I) was 02 and 03 months for each donor. The influence exerted by the environment was able to develop carious lesions in the dental elements. The record of the experiment promotes the educational work on the risks of developing dental caries, etiology and evolution, so as to allow the construction of an explanatory booklet.
