Since 1989, Côte d'Ivoire has entered a critical phase of its growth towards a modern and strong state, towards the requirements of a developed country. The worsening of the economic crisis that began in the early 1980s had plunged the country into a real abyss, and new political and institutional conditions were imposed on it.
