O knihe

Factors Affecting Recruitment and Rentention of nurses was a study conducted in 2005 in the Nzema East District (NED) of Ghana. I was motivated to conduct this study at a time when there was a high exdous of nurses from the Ghana Health Service to Europe and America. The research design used was describtive sample survey. Census sampling was used for the 40 nurses working in the NED. Findings depicted were the following: a) Recruitment of nurses into NED was by placement of new graduates from training instituitions and older nurses who requested for transfers on marital grounds. b) Induction process in NED fell short of organizational policy and did not meet the major objective of early adjustment of the new environment. C) Nurses aged 45 years and above who came from the district/region and nurses staying with their spouses were likely to be retained. d) Good working relationship with superiors and team members gave good climate for retention. e) Factors that served as push factors and thus militate against retention were: Nurses desiring to move to join spouses in other regions; nurses wanting to further their education and lack of social amenities.
