O knihe

Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) for the first six months after birth has been recommended by the World Health Organization as the best infant feeding strategy. This is because of the several benefits EBF offers both baby and mother. Despite this, studies carried out in Ghana among singletons indicate low EBF rates. Data on EBF rates among twin infants in Ghana remain limited and the EBF rate among twins is hypothesized to be low. This book seeks to identify some drivers of EBF among Ghanaian infants particularly, twins. It brings to bear the average duration of EBF among both twins and singletons. The mean daily breast milk volume produced by mothers with singletons and mothers with twins has also been explored using a novel scientific method. Information from this book will empower nursing mothers especially those with twin infants with requisite knowledge to aid them in providing optimal nutrition for their infants. Public health experts with interest in infant nutrition as well as maternity and paediatric staff will find this book a valuable resource as it will provide the necessary ideas to help mothers lay a solid nutritional foundation for their children.
