O knihe

This book examines the impact of floods on the livelihoods of the community residing in flood prone areas in the Zambezi region of Namibia. This book provides the direction on the main concerns that must be taken into consideration in understanding the impact of flood on the general livelihood of communities residing in flood prone areas of Namibia. The book is intended primarily for disaster administrators at regional as well as at local level. Some of these disaster administrators will be based in NGOs that deals primarily with community resilience and vulnerability related to floods. It is in fact troubling to cover all the components related to flood disaster and inevitably there are cracks. It is important to acknowledge the fact that no permanent safety measure against flood disaster will be achieved instantaneously. Flood disaster resilience among the communities in flood prone areas is a long term objective to be attained through uninterrupted process of improvement which would need the commitments of all stakeholders. Therefore, this book is part of the contribution to the process.
