O knihe

Friction Welding is a process through which two pieces can be joined together without changing their state. Principally it works on friction-induced heat on the surfaces of materials, causing no melting in the welded zone. This book elaborates some research on the friction welding process parameters during the joining of dissimilar stainless steel alloys, which affects the end properties of the weldment. For the experimental investigation, welds of SS 316 (Non-Magnetic steel) and SS 410 (Magnetic steel) dissimilar alloys were prepared under different burn-off lengths at different friction times and different rotational speeds. The tensile strength, impact strength, and micro-hardness values of the welded joints were measured and analyzed. The investigation revealed that both the burn-off length and rotational speed had a significant effect on the mechanical properties of the joint, and there is a probability of increasing the quality of the welded joint by selecting the optimum burn-off lengths and rotational speeds.
