O knihe
Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin, (1804 - 1876), was a French novelist who wrote under the pseudonym George Sand. She is known as much for her reputation and affairs with famous men of the time as for being the first French female novelist to gain a major reputation. She sported men's clothing in public - which she said was easier to wear and sturdier, the clothes also enabled her to gain access to many places from which women were barred. She also smoked tobacco in public which was not allowed permitted for women, which provoked outrage.
This book contains two classic biographies of her life - one by Justin M'Carthy in 1870 and the other by Bertha Thomas in 1883. It also contains three of George Sand's most notable novels - The Devil's Pool, Mauprat and Indiana.
Enjoy this book all about this remarkable French woman who refused to be bound by social conventions.
