Thyroid diseases are among the most commonest disorders worldwide. According to the projection from various studies on thyroid diseases, it has been estimated that 42 million people suffer from thyroid diseases.Thyroid hormone control various metabolic functions of the body. Thyroid diseases lead to imbalance in the thyroid hormone which could lead to disturbance in various metabolic functions. Earlier also various glycemic markers have been studied to evaluate the glycemic index of the thyroid disorder patients example HbA1C, but they were affected by various other factors. It was was found that there are various other glycated proteins like serum fructosamine, serum glycated albumin that correlate well with serum glucose level and are good alternative markers of short term mean glucose level over the period of 2-4 weeks. So here we have discussed the importance of various glycemic biomarkers in the patients with thyroid diseases. The relationship between thyroid hormone, serum fructosamine and serum glycated albumn had great clinical significance.
