The townsfolk were ready to bury the past and move on after many of their elected officials met an untimely death over a year ago. Sheriff Tillie Grant especially wanted to turn the page on the past. She stopped pining for Daniel Brooks, the father of her son, to return to her after leaving McWhorter to find his childhood sweetheart.
