Fellow citizens In accordance with the statute laws of the State, we present for your consideration a report of the condition and progress of the Public Schools of this town during the past year.

It will be impossible to give more than a very brief sketch of our official labors, and to present a simple outline of the state and needs of our various schools.

The condition of these schools during the past year, has been such, in the Opinion of the Committee, as to satisfy the reasonable expectations of the community. The Opportunities for instruo tion have been as adequate as those Of former years, and if any have failed to improve them, the blame must rest with them selves, their parents, or their guardians.

It is a well established principle, now, that no better invest ment can be made by a town, than in good churches and in good school houses.
