O knihe
Climate change and food insecurity are two pressing global issues with numerous negative consequences. In many ways, they are in conflict and reinforce one another. Yet, this analysis attempts to establish coordinated and sustainable solutions to addressing these problems. The many reasons that both of these problems persist are identified. International treaties and programs to combat climate change have ultimately failed and efforts to address food insecurity have been insufficient, despite increases in agricultural production. The evolution and influences of international food aid, agricultural development, and globalization are discussed to support these findings. Sustainable agricultural development is offered as the pathway forward to increasing agricultural yields while protecting the environment using sustainable intensification, precision farming and agroecology. Impediments to finding solutions include defective policies, economic inefficiencies, and unfavorable modes of development. Nevertheless, the programs such as the U.S. Feed the Future program could eventually lead the way in addressing food security in conjunction with political and societal will.
