O knihe
Resistance to insect is the inheritable property that enables a plant to inhibit the growth of insect population or to recover from injury caused by populations that were not inhibited to grow. Morphological characters viz., trichome, thickness and toughness of tissue, shape and size, colour, plant cuticle and plant types,; Anatomical characters viz., arrangement of vascular bundle, arrangement of seeds, thickness of pericarp and mesocarp are influencing insect population in solanaceous crops. Amongst the various morphological characters more trichome density, more height of plant, less calyx length, long shape of fruit, lighter colour of fruit and leaf, while in anatomical character well developed, large, compact arrangement of vascular bundle, lower thickness of pericarp and mesocarp of and more lignification of tissue were found as outstanding component to restrict feeding, oviposition, development, and locomotion of different pests.
