O knihe
The hourglass sat on the mahogany table, its intricate brass frame glinting faintly under the dim light of the study. Sand trickled steadily through the narrow passage, golden grains falling like whispers of time slipping away. The room was silent, save for the soft hiss of sand meeting the glass below-a sound that seemed almost alive. No one knew where the hourglass had come from. It had appeared one stormy night, delivered in a plain box with no return address. Inscribed on its base were strange symbols, twisting and curling like secrets waiting to be unraveled. The longer one stared at it, the stranger it became. The sand didn't seem to diminish, as if it defied the laws of nature. Sometimes, the flow would pause for the briefest of moments before resuming, as though the hourglass itself hesitated, contemplating its purpose. People who touched it claimed to hear faint echoes-a child's laughter, the mournful wail of a woman, the steady ticking of a clock that wasn't there. One by one, they began to vanish. First, the historian who swore it belonged to an ancient civilization. Then the skeptic who dared to call it a fraud. Each disappearance was marked by the hourglass stopping, the sand frozen mid-flow until a new hand dared to turn it. Now, it waits. On the table, in the quiet, the hourglass stands like a sentinel, timeless and watchful. Whatever power it holds, one truth is certain: once the sand begins to fall, it doesn't just measure time-it takes it.
