O knihe

Islam is among the fastest growing religious denominations in Germany. German Muslims are an important and growing community, but are generally not always held in good regard by other non Muslim Germans for reasons that are little understood, and so far, little studied by researchers.Since the end of World War II Germany allowed a large number of Turkish 'Guest workers' to help build its ruined economy. The move originally was a temporary measure because of a shortage of manpower, but over time they settled permanently and were joined by their families. Today the number of Muslims Turks who have become German citizens is estimated at 3 million. Although their settlement was perceived by some as 'incomplete' or 'imperfect', portrayed in books as fond of procreation (e.g Deutschland schafft sich ab, 2010), they were allowed to teach their own language, build mosques, access social services.
