O knihe

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease of supporting tissues of teeth caused by specific microorganisms or groups of specific microorganisms, resulting in progressive destruction of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone with periodontal pocket formation, gingival recession or both. The aim of the periodontal treatment is to provide healthy and functional dentition all through a lifetime.Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring linear polysaccharide of the extracellular matrix of connective tissue, synovial fluid, and other tissues. Due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effects it can be used as an adjunct to scaling and root planing specially for efficient results. The aim of this randomized controlled, study was to investigate the clinical and histological outcomes of local subgingival application of 0.2% hyaluronic acid gel (GENGIGEL®, RICERFARMA, Italy) as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) in chronic periodontitis patients.
