O knihe
"I am the Crested Crane" is a scornful poem that critically but facetiously narrates the political situation in Uganda. The Crested Crane which is the nation's emblem represents the citizens but despite being crowned, she can't travel in a train; her railways have been whipped and wiped away. Nor can she fly in a plane; her wings have been thrashed and slashed in pain. All this is like that because she faces a callous and ruthless rule at the hands of the Bamboo cane. As it is known of the Bamboo tree, it sustains for long while reproducing many more spores who keep inheriting from it to maintain the occupancy, thus, a monarchy. The Crested Crane's soother who's the loser at all battles reflects upon the nation's opposition that continue to lose the election contests against the Bamboo cane but still goes on to console the Crested Crane with hand outs of sweets, biscuits and cakes. After all this endeavor by the soother to dispose the government headed by the Bamboo cane, the Crested Crane is tired and now tells the soother to leave her to cry.
