O knihe
This book problematizes the traditionalist treatment of 'collocation' as a mere textual phenomenon. The concept of 'collocation' can be investigated as a discursive practice that encodes ideological representations of certain topics across opposing discourses and clashing texts. Hence, the present book puts forward the new concept of 'ideological collocation', which contributes to the discursive recontextualization of Wahhabi Islam across opposing discourses in the US after 9/11. Drawing on a methodological synergy of critical discourse analysis and corpus linguistics, the book is devoted to theorizing and analyzing the ideological meanings (meta-Wahhabi) underlying the collocational structure in empirical data. The book is divided into three parts. Part I proposes the context of the problem, relevant literature, and theoretical framework regarding the interface between collocation and ideology. Part II offers a comprehensive analysis, quantitative and qualitative, of the data collocations. Part III gives an account of the major findings and implications growing out of this study. This publication targets students and researchers into text, discourse, and corpus linguistics.
