O knihe

The paper aim is to critically review an existing literature on impact of landfill leachate on groundwater quality in order to identify various extent of groundwater contamination at different distances between the landfill and the water well during the dry and rainy season. To address the aim many academic articles were reviewed. As per the reviewed analysis from different sources the landfill leachate impact is slightly higher during the raining season and the extent of the contamination is also depends on the proximity of the groundwater to the landfill. As far studies of Kassega & Mbuligwe, (2009) results during the dry and wet season were found to be no significant difference between dry and rainy season. Furthermore, as per studies of Akinbile, (2012), proximity of MSW landfill to water wells favours occurrence chemicals such as TDS, TH, Ca, NO3, NO2 and Cl- as correlation analysis indicates negative impact on groundwater quality. However, the correlation revealed positive correlation between pH, DO and proximity of landfill.
