On a snowy night in Baltimore, air traffic controller Charley Hudson observes
a blip on his radar-vanishing and reappearing, changing altitude at speeds no
manmade aircraft could manage. Seventy miles away a God-fearing farmer
beholds a flash of light in a vision, ominously hinting of evil to come. Oblivious
to these occurrences, young exec Brad Barron begins welcoming guests for a
Friday night bash.
Grounded by her guardian uncle, beautiful Nanatobi Gray pines away in her
bedroom, unaware her best friend Renee Van Cedar has been refused
permission to see her. Unable to spend the evening with Nanatobi, Renee
decides to attend Brad Barron's party. She leaves Nanatobi's house and
drives to Brad's apartment, oblivious to the fact she's being followed by
lovesick Ronnie Carr, an ex-marine who's been trying to introduce himself
since spotting her at the University of Maryland two months ago. He finally
succeeds by pretending it's a coincidence they've come to the same
apartment complex, and winds up accompanying her to the party.
The mysterious blip finally disappears for good and the city is plunged into
darkness. When power is restored Nanatobi and Brad simultaneously experience
an uncanny phenomenon-one that besieges them a second time before they
finally meet one another. The incidents continue and start to evolve, bringing
eerie revelations of betrayal, demons, and death. Ronnie also finds himself wrestling
with the paranormal as a bizarre series of events unfold that tests friendships, puts
lives at risk, and uncovers the existence of an appalling sex cult, whose leader
secretly offers human sacrifices to a pagan deity.
