Among them, the Glory lily (Gloriosa superba L.) has attracted large-scale cultivation in recent times. In Ayurvedic system of medicine, the underground rhizomes are used as an anthelosintic, anti-inflammatory and anti-leprotic drug.It is useful in demotosis, piles, chronic ulcers, colic pain and as a cataplasm in neuralgic pains. Since the discovery of colchicine in Gloriosa, a number of researchers have turn into this herb and established that Gloriosa could serve as a commercial source of colchicine. Even though it was becoming commercially important medicinal plant the management practices still needs attention.
