O knihe
German is taught in several schools and universities in Ivory Coast. Particularly at university level, it has been observed that many students of German converse in German in their first year of studies, but without using the interjections of the target language. In their conversations, students repeatedly use interjections that are specific to their native languages and their linguistic environment. In this study, I tried to understand the psycholinguistic factors underlying this use. After conducting a survey with German students at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University in Ivory Coast, it was found that the students were influenced by their mother tongues. The intention to make themselves understood to each other is also a reason for the ¿inappropriate use¿ of interjections in their conversations. This study, which was carried out under the supervision of Professor Abo Justin Kouamé, shows how our mother tongue has a great influence on the learning of a foreign language and, in addition, how culturally influenced interjections are.
