O knihe

Among the various types of natural hazards, earthquake prediction is the one for which no full proof technique has been developed till today, with the result there occur huge losses of lives and destruction of properties of almost every year in one or other part of the earth. In India itself, there occurred more than 10 devastating earthquake in last 60 years in which thousands of people have died and properties worth thousands of crores of rupees damaged. Since earthquakes give severe jolt to the economic conditions of the country, research work has been given top priority for prediction and forecasting of such natural catastrophe all over the globe. In India, various seismological techniques have been tried in the recent past but no success has been achieved. A new technique known as Seismoelectromagnetic technique which is based on ground and Ionospheric based monitoring of electromagnetic signals and anomalies generated due to earthquakes has been attempted which has produced some convincing results giving a ray of hope of possible short-term earthquake prediction in the near future. This book deals with the seismoelectromagnetic studies using GPS & ground based measurements.
